Introduction
The Seoul Hanmaum Rotary Club (SHRC) is committed to fostering a welcoming, ethical, and professional environment where all members and guests feel respected, valued, and free from undue pressure. To uphold the integrity of our club and the principles of Rotary International, all members must agree to abide by the following Code of Ethics before joining SRC. Failure to adhere to these principles may result in disciplinary action, including revocation of membership without reimbursement.
1. Responsible Networking: “Friendship First, Then Business”
- SRC is a platform for service and friendship, not a direct avenue for soliciting business or financial assistance.
- Members must not ask for financing, donations, or business favors from guests attending SRC events unless explicitly invited to do so.
- Example: If a guest expresses interest in supporting a project, any discussions should take place outside of SRC events and with full transparency.
- Example: A member should never approach a guest at an SRC meeting to seek investment or loans for a personal business venture unless the guest explicitly says they are interested and want to talk about it more.
- Example: If a member soliciting funds asks a guest/member and that guest/member politely declines then the member soliciting funds should immediately stop asking them about it, unless told otherwise.
- Business relationships that arise from Rotary interactions should be built on genuine connections and shared values, rather than aggressive solicitation.
2. Integrity and Ethical Conduct & Rotary Guiding Principles
Seoul Hanmaum Rotary Club aligns with the global values and ethical framework of Rotary International:

The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say, or do, we ask ourselves:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
